The Pacific Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/1U70hNy ) that the National Weather Service’s latest forecast for Tropical Storm Chan-hom predicts the storm will pass south of Guam Saturday with maximum sustained winds of 85 miles per hour.
Weather service meteorologist Brandon Aydlett says rain and thunderstorms are expected to begin Friday and winds will strengthen over the weekend. The island can expect up to 12 inches of rain over the weekend.
The storm is expected to merge with a weaker circulation currently located northwest of Chuuk.
